Media Center Student Policies NOTE:
Circulation
• A valid MSU Campue Wide ID is necessary to view or check out any media items or equipment.
• Return or renew borrowed materials on or before the due date
• Be financially responsible for damages or loss of borrowed materials
• Be financially responsible for all overdue fines
• Report loss of borrowed materials to the Library immediately
• Report loss or theft of MSU Campus Wide ID to the Library and Campus Police immediately
• Media Fines and Fees
• Fines: $1.00 per day per item with a $10.00 per item maximum
• Fees: Replacement = cost of item + overdue fines (if any) + $15.00 processing fee
• Media Loan Periods
• Students: 7 Days ……… 1 Renewal ……… 5 Item Limit
• Thesis Student: 7 Days ……… 1 Renewal ……… 5 Item Limit
• Teaching Assistants: 7 Days ……… 1 Renewal ……… 5 Item Limit
• Media Equipment Fines and Fees
• Fines: $25.00 per day per item with a $300.00 per item maximum
• Fees: Replacement = cost of item + overdue fines (if any) + $15.00 processing fee
• Media Equipment Loan Periods
• Students: 3 Days ……… No Renewals ……… 1 Week Wait Between Check Out
• Thesis Student: 3 Days ……… No Renewals ……… 1 Week Wait Between Check Out
• Teaching Assistants: 3 Days ……… No Renewals ……… 1 Week Wait Between Check Out
REGISTRATION HOLDS
may be placed on borrowers with outstanding materials and/or fines.
Facilities Available:
• Two (2) small media viewing rooms, maximum capacity 8 persons
• Groups of two (2) or more may use the viewing rooms; individuals should use the general viewing area
• Video players, compact disc players and DVD players available in general media area
• Headphones must be used in general media area
Gift Policy
• Moffett Library welcomes all donations of useful media items.
• All donated items will be reviewed and added to the collection if appropriate.
• Moffett Library reserves the right to determine disposition of donated materials.
Media Equipment
• Media equipment is available for instructional use by students.
• Students are asked to check their appropriate department first for available equipment
• Available equipment includes:
• Data Projectors
• Laptop Computers
• Digital Camcorder
• Digital Still Camera
• Portable Lecturnette
Media Materials
• Available non-print materials includes:
• Digital Videodiscs (DVD)
• VHS Videocassettes
• Compact Discs
• LP Sound Recordings
• 16mm Films
• Slides, Kits, Realia and Transparencies
Restrictions
• Do Not copy, publicly exhibit or use library media in any way that would constitute a
violation of copyright laws
• All equipment shall be used solely for the purpose of viewing those media items owned
by Moffett Library
• The use of Moffett Library equipment to copy any media item is strictly prohibited
• Return materials to the Circulation Desk
• Media items may be returned to the inside media drop
• Do Not return materials in the outside bookdrop
• Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in suspension of non-essential Media
Library check-out priviledges
